Big Data Engineer

AEOS is a tech and data company at the forefront of innovation in TV advertising. We help drive TV understanding and engagement using Big Data and Machine Learning. Our clients include some of the most sophisticated and data-driven advertisers, such as L’Oréal, DAZN, eBay, and Audi. We are headquartered in Croatia and Germany, serving clients across the EU.

Our Data Science and Engineering teams design and build scalable data solutions, ML pipelines, and real-time applications that uncover hidden correlations, forecast audience behavior, and optimize TV engagement.

We are now seeking a mid-to-senior Big Data Engineer to join our team in Zagreb and help us scale our data infrastructure and ML-driven applications.

What you will be doing

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining ETL pipelines in Spark for both structured and unstructured data
• Building and operating large-scale data pipelines that support ML training and inference workflows
• Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams of Data Scientists, Database Engineers, and product teams to transform ML prototypes into production-ready solutions
• Architecting and orchestrating modular, reusable Spark pipelines
• Deploying, maintaining, and operating data pipelines in production
• Designing monitoring and quality-control mechanisms for data delivery and ML pipelines
• Taking part in improving the automation, scalability, and reliability of our data and ML infrastructure

What we expect from you

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a related role
• Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and computational efficiency
• Solid experience with Apache Spark (preferably Scala, Python acceptable) for large-scale data processing
• Hands-on experience in building ETL pipelines in production environments, ideally in ML/AI contexts
• Proficiency with SQL 
• Familiarity with Docker and working in Linux environments
• Experience with version control (Git)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn
• Proficient in English
  

What would be a plus

• Knowledge of DevOps tools/infrastructure (e.g., Airflow, AWS ECS/S3, CI/CD pipelines)
• Experience specifically with PostgreSQL
• Proficiency in German
